For severe fever with heat in the blood; resolves blood stagnation.
Indications
For severe febrile illnesses with delirium, vomiting blood, nosebleeds, blood in the urine and black stools. The book also mentions acute leukaemia, uraemia, liver failure, septicaemia and severe local inflammations.

Variations
- For vomiting blood and nosebleeds: add cogon grass and arborvitae leaf.
- For blood in the stool: add pagoda tree flower and zi cao.
- For delirium and confusion: add huang qin and rhubarb.
- For lupus of the excess-heat type (sudden onset, high fever, red rash), the book describes a variant with, among others, gypsum, zhi mu, xuan shen, honeysuckle flower, lian qiao, zi cao, mai men dong and cogon grass.
